Specialist Pergola Build

Specialist Iroko Supplied

We were approached by a customer of ours who had been asked to create a large pergola build. After discussing with our experienced sales team about which timber would be best, we suggested using Iroko. Iroko is a dense wood - similar to teak, durable & offers a rich coloured grain. Once exposed to the natural elements the colour of the wood can become a beautiful dusty grey, complementing most outdoor garden designs.

Facts on Iroko

African Iroko timber originates from large trees located on the west coast of Africa. It is known as one of the giants of the African forests due to its incredible height average of 50 metres & diameter of 70-250cm. With a strength class of D40 - Iroko is a strong, durable and rich-coloured hardwood which does not require regular treatment, it also has a great resistance to rot. It is commonly used in a range of projects such as: construction of furniture, joinery to panelling, exterior projects and flooring. In this case study you'll see that these lengths of Iroko were constructed as an outdoor pergola, enriching colour and bringing a "cosy" place for an outdoor area.
