When durability meets design, the result is a deck that not only enhances outdoor living but also stands the test of time. In this case study, we explore a meticulously crafted Trex Transcend decking installation in Island Mist, where functionality blends seamlessly with aesthetic appeal.
The project features a two-tiered design, including a spacious lower deck social area and a cozy upper deck with an ArborClad media board on which a television is mounted, this elevated retreat makes a great private lounge area, perfect for relaxation or outdoor gatherings.
Explore the full breakdown of planning, substructure construction, and finishing touches below.

After meticulous initial planning, the first stage is ground preparation, including levelling, laying weed control fabric, or drainage gravel if required.

Secondly, a UC3 timber substructure - painted with Black Jack damp proof membrane - is constructed and then ground posts are fixed to the frame.

Trex Protect: Adhesive Joist Tape protects the substructure from moisture. The bituminous tape creates a waterproof barrier on the joist surface, preventing moisture ingress around screws when they are driven through the tape into the timber.

The final stage concerns the fixing of the Trex decking to the substructure below, through the use of Trex Hideaway discrete fastening Clips. A gap is maintained between the surrounding walls to ensure proper ventilation below deck.
